DIY Frog Pinata for under $5

DIY Frog Pinata for under $5

To make this pinata I used 2 in wide strips of newspaper dipped in a 50/50 water and flour mixture.

The head is a punch ball balloon from the dollar store (so it’s round instead of so pear shaped like regular balloons). I paper mache-d the eyes separately using half blown up regular balloons, then sawed off a portion to make them flat on the bottom and attached to the main portion using more paper mache.

I wanted this pinata to last through several rounds of five year olds, so I put about 4 layers on, letting each layer dry for about 24 hours between coats. I hung the pinata from the punch ball rubberband so I could do the whole thing at once and then let it dry.
I used Elmer’s aeresol spray adhesive to attach strips of crepe paper and tissue paper. The nose, eyes and mouth are construction paper.
