Get your kids talking with a Sharing Jar

My son is very hesitant to talk about himself and I have found that this Sharing Jar is a great was to get the conversation going. He picks out a few pieces of candy and has to answer a question that corresponds with that piece of candy before he can eat it.

First we started with jelly beans, but after that, I let him come along to the candy store and pick out whatever multi-colored candy he wanted.

Then I take a piece of each candy and put it on a piece of blank paper and photograph it. I copy the photo into Microsoft word and insert two text boxes next to the candies for our questions and use double-stick tape to attach it to the jar. I use a Weck canning jar, but any jar will do.

This time our questions were:
3 things you love the most
Something that made you happy today
Your favorite thing to do outside
Something that was silly today
A time someone was nice to you
Something nice you did today
Your favorite animal
Best thing you ate this week
Something fun that happened at school

You’ll be amazed at the answers (and giggles).

Have fun!
